In February 2007, Lord Crisp reported, in response to an invitation from the Prime Minister and the Secretaries of State for Health and International Development to look at how UK experience and expertise in health could be used to best effect to help improve health in developing countries. The Government response to the report was published on 15 March 2008.

The UK Presidency of the G8
During 2005, the UK assumed the presidency of the G8, which is an informal body of the world's leading industrial nations. The Presidency passed to Russia on 1 January 2006.
