High-level meeting in Accra to evaluate the Paris Declaration
In 2005, a summit meeting was held in Paris to make the increasing amounts of aid more effective. It resulted in the Paris Declaration with a number of measurable goals to be met by 2010. Now, representatives of more than 150 governments and donor organisations are meeting for a mid-term evaluation of the Paris Declaration in Accra on 2-4 September. Sweden, together with Honduras, will host the roundtable session.
Call for Proposals for the Middle East and North Africa
Sida hereby invites Swedish Non-Governmental Organisations to apply for funding for regional projects in the field of democratic development and the promotion of human rights within the framework of the Strategy for development cooperation with the Middle East and North Africa (the MENA strategy).

Mobile telephone bank in Kenya wins top IT award
The M-Pesa payment system in Kenya, operated by mobile provider, Safaricom, was awarded the prize for the best project in the economic development category at the Stockholm Challenge Award ceremony in Stockholm City Hall last Thursday evening. The programme was financed by the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Ericsson, the Municipality of Stockholm and Sida.

Sida ventures into Customs reforms
Sida took a new decision to support the World Customs Organisation's capacity building programme internationally known as "Columbus Program". The decision responds to the Swedish Government's priorities set out for trade-related development cooperation and the increased focus in the area of trade facilitation and customs issues.
